Pre-School

Pre-School

The importance of a strong social, emotional and academic foundation is paramount for young children. Your child will learn many skills needed for a successful transition into kindergarten. An innovative and comprehensive school readiness curriculum is applied in all preschool classrooms. Children are encouraged to express themselves through art projects and creative illustrations.

Visual letter and number recognition, as well as phonemic awareness will begin to develop. Children are encouraged to write as they recognize that print conveys meaning. In a community of learners, children are encouraged to communicate and express ideas in many ways. This develops a desire to read, write and listen. Children shall experience and demonstrate the ability to happily exist in a group setting which is important in kindergarten environments.

Learning Steps Preschool students will learn to be confident and comfortable forming a line, participating in a fire drill, raising their hand and waiting for a turn to speak and contributing to group conversations. Teachers focus on character development as part of the curriculum. Your child will be encouraged to share, take turns, follow directions, and take responsibility for his/her actions while respecting his/her classroom, teachers and friends. This foundation of skills helps to prepare our children for our ultimate goal: for each child to be confident and eager to join a structured kindergarten setting.
